There are many reasons why your garage door might not open at the push of a button. Some are more serious than others. But there are some quick fixes you can try before calling in a professional.
What is the common problem of garage door?
Step 1
If your garage door repair is moving slowly, this may be an indication that the rollers are dry and need to be re-lubricated. This should be done regularly to reduce wear and tear on the garage door components. Using a degreaser is also recommended to loosen any built-up grime.
Step 2
It’s possible that your garage door is not properly aligned with the tracks. Check with a level to make sure horizontal tracks slant slightly down toward the back of the garage and vertical sections are plumb. If necessary, loosen the screws or bolts that hold the track mounting brackets, then tap the tracks carefully into position. Be sure to tighten the screws or bolts when finished.
Step 3
If your garage door won’t close or goes down but stops short, it could be an issue with the limit adjustment screw (a safety feature). This screw controls how far the garage door can travel when it is opening or closing. If the screw is adjusted too low, the door won’t close all the way; if it’s adjusted too high, the garage door won’t open fully. If you are unsure how to adjust this, call a Clopay Dealer or trained door systems technician for assistance.
